WORRIED ABOUT THE BIG ONE? Worrying is useless. Knowing what to do before, during, and after an earthquake, however, will help you visualize how you're going to behave should the Big One hit the metro. Because the thing with earthquake? You'll never know when it's going to happen!

The Center for Disaster Preparedness invites you to TalaKawayan: BIG PREP FOR THE BIG ONE, an orientation on Earthquake Preparedness this November 20, 2017, 8:30 am -12:00 nn at the NCPAG Audio-Visual Room.

In view of the increasing risks faced by our megacities particularly to earthquakes, the event is intended to have two sessions for general public, organizations and even DRR practitioners to raise DRR awareness and to give better understanding of the BIG ONE.

The first part of the seminar will dive heavily on the “Anatomy of an Earthquake;” while the second, on how to prepare for the Big One and what to do when it occurs:

•Anatomy of an earthquake

•The Philippine Fault System

•The Big One scenario (based on the Metro Manila earthquake study, as well as the current government plans and initiatives)

•Family and Individual preparedness

While Session 2 enables individual, family and organizational levels of readiness with some practical tips and tools when it comes to earthquake preparedness.
