DRR-YIELDS
Disaster Risk Reduction through Youth Innovation, Empowerment and Locally-Led Solutions
DRR-YIELDS is a 2-year project of CDP in partnership with the Municipalities of Catubig and Bobon in Northen Samar, and Municipalities of Paracale and Mercedes in Camarines Norte that endeavors to strengthen the capacities of children and youth in prevention, mitigation, preparedness and adaptation. Key project interventions include organizing, capacity development, innovation development, and learning and sharing. After capacity development, children and youth are expected to identify local, doable, innovative DRR and CCA solutions that can help address vulnerabilities and its root causes.
Theory of Change
If children and youth are organized into strong formations, trained and mentored in DRR, CCA, and innovation, supported to design and test locally led solutions, and connected to learning and sharing platforms, then they will be able to lead resilient, context specific, and sustainable innovations that address the risks and needs they themselves identify in their communities.
Objectives
-
Children and youth innovators and their organizations have ownership of the process
-
Local innovators have the capacity to develop, manage and sustain their innovative solutions
-
Localized systems and mechanisms are developed based on community - led and adaptive approaches
-
Evidence-based learnings are culled and shared

What our partners are saying...
Ma. Melanie Escareal, Bobon Youth for Youth
“In the 3-day camp I have learned that we have a responsibility and we are accountable in the things that is happening around us, we need to take action and spearhead the change in our community, just like Dr. Jose Rizal stated, that the youth is the hope of our future, that is why the change must start with us. We must be the catalyst of change."
Rhea Alo, Teacher III of Acereda Integrated School,
Bobon, Northern Samar
"I have noticed because of the CDP DRR YIELdS, it ignited the youth’s passion to serve the
community, voluntarily without compensation. All they want is to help and develop other youth where they can also contribute to the community."
Crizel Eneria, SSLG Innovating Team, Tabas National High School
“We are not just ordinary youth, we have the ability to act, to think, and to take part in finding solutions for our community… We want to show that the youth have an important role in building a safer and more resilient future.”
