Zamboanga readies for purok-level family preparedness roll-out

The Center for Disaster Preparedness, through its PROSPER Project, continues with its second Training of Trainers (ToT) on family level preparedness in the Zamboanga Peninsula on February 18 to 22 at Ariana Hotel in Dipolog City. Participants who successfully completed the five-day training will be part of the Zamboanga Peninsula's pool of trainers. They are expected to support the project team in conducting purok-level family preparedness orientations and planning initiatives.

Ms. Zenaida Delica-Willison, CDP President, was also present in the activity. She encouraged and thanked the participants for their time and support in undertaking the requirements of the training. In her speech, she emphasized that, "We need people like you in promoting resiliency and (DRRM) sustainability in this region; together we can realize our goals."

A total of 65 trainers shall support and facilitate community trainings after the ToT. They come from different departments of the local government namely the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, including the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program 4Ps (Bridging Program for the Filipino Family), Municipal Local Government Operations Office, Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees, and Department of Education. It also includes multi-sectoral volunteers from the municipalities of Manukan, President Manuel A. Roxas, Sergio Osmeña in Zamboanga del Norte); Tambulig and Kulamarang (Zamboanga Del Sur).

They are scheduled to undergo series of further mentoring, as well as strategic planning in carrying out their grueling task at hand. This activity is in line with CDP's vision of promoting holistic and inclusive resilience within Zamboanga Peninsula.
