Good and not-so-good practices: CHAP, NAPC-VDC Sector hold learning event on DRR and humanitarian re

Various representatives from the national and local governments, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and People’s Organizations (POs) from all over the country gathered on June 27-28, 2017 to share the good practices, challenges, and lessons learned on DRR and Humanitarian Response.

Hosted by the Consortium of Humanitarian Action and Protection (CHAP) in partnership with National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC)’s Victim of Disasters and Calamities (VDC) sector, the 2-day knowledge sharing event entitled, “Two-Day Learning Event: Good and Not-so-Good Practices on Humanitarian Response and Disaster Risk Reduction” inputs on the current crisis in Marawi City and the challenges on humanitarian work to set the tone on the two-day event. The looming Marawi crisis sent an immediate call for humanitarian workers to unite and work together.

Aside from the sharing of Marawi crisis, members of the NAPC-VDC and CHAP shared their good and not-so-good practices of their organizations on Humanitarian Response and Disaster Risk Reduction through booths that narrated the experiences and milestones.

Ms. Mayfourth Luneta, deputy executive director of the Center for Disaster Preparedness (CDP) facilitated a workshop to identify good and not-so good practices learned by the organizations.

As a result, NAPC agreed with the identified good practices and committed that they will support in the process of upholding the practices by considering it as part of their advocacies on Humanitarian Response and DRR.

A study tour in brgy. Banaba, San Mateo, Rizal served as a culminating activity of the event. It showcased the works and efforts of Buklod Tao, Inc. and Buklod ng Kabataan in Barangay Banaba.
