Prospects in Retrospect: A Guide to Mainstreaming Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in an Organization’s Programming Framework is a product of the 5-day mainstreaming workshop held last November 7-11, 2016 at Quezon Premier Hotel, Quezon Province. This activity was conducted as part of the partnership project between CBM International and the Center for Disaster Preparedness entitled, “CBM and Partners Capacity Development on Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Preparedness and Emergency Response”.

This guide has been envisioned for the use of the organizations belonging to the CBM Partners’ Pool of Trainers—Bethsaida CBR Services for the Disabled Inc., Sorsogon Integrated Health Services Foundation (SIHSFI), Inc., and Loving Presence Foundation, Inc.(LPFI)—who attended the workshop and who will be rolling out the process of mainstreaming Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DI-DRRM) within their organizations’ programming framework. This version is for the pilot use of the said organizations, and will continue to undergo further enhancement.

This guide should be used in accompaniment with the Lahat Handa Manual, “an Inclusive Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (ICBDRRM) Training Manual supplementing the CBDRRM Basic Instructor’s Guide (BIG) Manual of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-Office of Civil Defense (NDRRMC-OCD). It integrates inclusive approaches to community-based DRRM and promotes the rights and capacities of children, youth, older people andpersons with disabilities”1. Likewise, the guide may be used complementarily with the disability-inclusive community-based disaster risk reduction and management (DI- CBDRRM) Powerpoint files contained in the flash drive attached to this manuscript.

This guide may be modified, adapted, and enhanced based on the organizations’ nature and target audience.
